🔥 BLOODHOUND GANG 🔥

The Bad Boys of Alternative Rock Since 1988

⚠️ PARENTAL ADVISORY: This band is not for the faint of heart! ⚠️

About The Gang

Bloodhound Gang is an American rock band that formed in 1988 in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Known for their crude humor, satirical lyrics, and genre-blending sound mixing alternative rock, hip hop, and electronic music, they carved out a unique niche in the late 90s and early 2000s music scene.

Led by frontman Jimmy Pop, the band achieved mainstream success with their irreverent approach to music, often pushing boundaries with controversial subject matter and juvenile humor. While critics sometimes dismissed them as a novelty act, their musical craftsmanship and ability to blend genres showcased genuine talent beneath the crude exterior.

"We're like the special ed kids of rock and roll" - Jimmy Pop

Their biggest hit "The Bad Touch" became a worldwide phenomenon, but true fans know there's so much more to explore in their discography, from the punk-rap fusion of their early work to the more polished electronic rock of their later albums.

Bloodhound Gang

Bloodhound Gang is pronounced "blad-aound-gaing" and should be taken at the 14th degree...

The band is deliberately stupid, vulgar, greasy, delirious, and ridiculous — and on top of that, they drop massive riffs!

Everything we love? Enjoy!

It all started in Philadelphia in 1993. Jimmy Pop decides to form a band with 4 of his buddies, including Lupus. Their music at that time? Very simple: bad covers of Depeche Mode on MIDI instruments. Getting kicked out of every club in town, they decide to start writing original songs, which gives birth to a mix of guitars, hip-hop, and extremely greasy humor. The gang releases 2 demos, then their first EP: Dingleberry Haze.

Then in 1995, the group signs with Columbia and releases their first album Use Your Fingers. The opus leans heavily toward rap! And it's a total flop, followed by a tour to try to boost their reputation...

The band changes members, and by late 1995 it consists of Jimmy Pop Ali (vocals), Lupus (guitar), Evil Jared (bass), Spanky G (drums), and DJ Q-Ball (turntables).

1996 is the band's breakthrough year. They sign with Republic Records and record One Fierce Beer Coaster, an album that finally features real instruments. Samples are still there, but big guitars and live drums replace the drum machine and MIDIs! The album explodes, and "Fire Water Burn" becomes the most requested song in the USA! The videos are funnier than the last (proof: "Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny"), and the band gets known for its completely delirious side.

Attracted by Geffen's tempting offer, they sign with them.

After 2 years of touring (including a stop at Eurockéennes 99), the band releases in September 1999 Hooray for Boobies (translate that yourself!), and changes drummers — Spanky goes back to school and Willie The New Guy replaces him. But even after this third album, we still can't pin down the band's style: deeply rooted in rock, it swings between hip-hop, hardcore, dance, but always with very simple lyrics revolving around sex and other bullshit (like sex, or sex)... After a memorable show at the Élysée Montmartre, the band finally starts getting known in France. Unfortunately, the "The Bad Touch" remix by Eiffel 65 makes the band look like a lame boy band! Then come the singles "Along Comes Mary", "The Ballad of Chasey Lain", and "Mope", which reflect the band's spirit much better. But a tip: rather than listening to this band only on radio or TV, go buy the album to fully appreciate "Vagina" (which won't get airplay, censorship oblige) or "Yummy Down on This"...

Jimmy Pop
Jimmy Pop
Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar, Primary Songwriter (1988-present)

Born James Moyer Franks, Jimmy Pop is the creative mastermind and only constant member throughout Bloodhound Gang's entire history. A Temple University graduate with a degree in mass communication, Jimmy Pop's satirical wit and fearless approach to controversial topics defined the band's sound and image. Known for his rapid-fire delivery and clever wordplay, he wrote most of the band's material and shaped their genre-blending style. Despite the crude humor, Jimmy is highly intelligent and used the band as a vehicle for social commentary wrapped in absurdist comedy. He remains close friends with the Jackass/CKY crew, particularly Bam Margera.

Evil Jared Hasselhoff
Evil Jared Hasselhoff
Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals (1994-present)

Jared Hennegan, known by his stage name Evil Jared Hasselhoff (a playful jab at David Hasselhoff), joined the band in 1994 and became Jimmy Pop's right-hand man. With his wild stage presence, distinctive look (often sporting dreadlocks or mohawks), and willingness to do outrageous stunts, Evil Jared embodied the band's anarchic spirit. Beyond music, he appeared in various Jackass-style videos and stunts. His energetic bass playing and backing vocals were crucial to the band's live performances. He and Jimmy Pop shared a close friendship that helped the band survive lineup changes and kept them together through thick and thin.

DJ Q-Ball
DJ Q-Ball
Turntables, Keyboards, Backing Vocals (1999-present)

Harry Dean Jr., performing as DJ Q-Ball, joined Bloodhound Gang in 1999 just before their biggest commercial success with "Hooray for Boobies." As the band's DJ and keyboardist, Q-Ball brought essential electronic elements and hip-hop sensibilities to their sound. His scratching and sampling skills helped create the band's signature blend of rock and rap. Q-Ball was instrumental in modernizing their sound in the 2000s, incorporating more electronic and dance elements. His technical skills on the turntables and keyboards added depth to their live shows and studio recordings, helping the band stay relevant as musical trends evolved.

Daniel P. Carter
Daniel P. Carter
Guitar (2009-present)

Daniel P. Carter is a British radio DJ and musician who joined Bloodhound Gang in 2009 for their final era. Already an established figure in rock music through his work at BBC Radio 1, Daniel brought professionalism and genuine guitar skills to the band's later incarnation. His experience in the music industry and connections in the rock world helped the band navigate their comeback with "Hard-Off" in 2015. Daniel balanced his radio career with touring commitments, bringing credibility and musical talent to the band's final chapter. His guitar work showcased a more polished, mature sound while still maintaining the band's irreverent edge.

The Yin
The Yin (Adam Perry)
Drums (2009-present)

Adam Perry, known as "The Yin," became Bloodhound Gang's final drummer in 2009. Despite being one of the band's later additions, The Yin proved to be a solid, reliable backbone for their rhythm section. His drumming style was versatile enough to handle the band's eclectic mix of rock, hip-hop, and electronic elements. The Yin brought a steady professionalism to the drum kit that complemented the band's chaotic stage persona. Though he joined during the band's quieter period, he was part of the "Hard-Off" album recording and the subsequent tours, helping maintain the band's high-energy live performances through their final years of activity.

Notable Former Members:

Lupus Thunder
Lüpüs Thünder
Guitar (1994-2009)

Lüpüs Thünder was the band's longtime guitarist who contributed to their signature sound throughout their most successful years. He played on all their major albums from "One Fierce Beer Coaster" through "Hefty Fine," helping craft the guitar hooks that made songs like "The Bad Touch" and "Fire Water Burn" so memorable. His guitar work balanced rock power with the band's hip-hop influences, creating a unique sonic identity. Lüpüs left the band in 2009 after 15 years of service, just before the lineup change that would mark the band's final era.

Daddy Long Legs
Daddy Long Legs (Michael Bowe)
Co-founder (1988-1995)

Michael Bowe, known as Daddy Long Legs, co-founded Bloodhound Gang with Jimmy Pop in 1988. As one of the original architects of the band's sound, Daddy Long Legs was there when they started as a hip-hop group before evolving into the comedy rock outfit they became known for. He contributed to their debut album "Use Your Fingers" before departing in 1995 to form his own band, Wolfpac. His exit marked the end of the band's original lineup and the beginning of their transformation into the more commercially successful version that would emerge with "One Fierce Beer Coaster."
