i remember begging for *tomodachi life* when i was a kid. like. *really* begging. i must've asked a hundred times. any time we passed a game store or i saw an ad, i brought it up like clockwork. i just wanted it so bad, the whole weird idea of having my own little island of miis doing random chaotic stuff? it obsessed me.

and then one night, i finally got it.

i still remember the way everything felt. it was late, dark outside, that cozy kind of quiet where everything slows down. i was holding the case in my hands like it was the holy grail. popped it into my 3DS, heart racing, and booted it up for the first time.

made my little mii, gave him my name, my voice, my dorky face. then i started adding others..friends, family, whoever i could think of. yeah even someone created from my mind. watching them walk around, talk, do their weird little dances, it was already making me giggle like an idiot.

then it happened. my mii called me. and he said it was **my birthday.**

i just sat there, frozen for a second, staring at the screen with the dumbest smile on my face. i hadn't even remembered it was that exact day. the game *knew*. they all sang for me. gave me cake. my silly little virtual island threw me a party.

that's easily one of my best gaming memories ever. like a tiny perfect bubble of childhood joy. still holding onto it. still waiting for the sequel.
