DIY OR DIE - FUCK WAITING FOR THE STATE
Listen up, skids. The system wants you dead or miserable — don't give them the satisfaction.
DIY HRT isn't "edgy" — it's survival. When governments ban care, when doctors gatekeep, when pharmacies say "no prescription, no T", we brew it ourselves. Black market vials, homebrew gel, powdered raw from Chinese labs — whatever it takes.
I've seen people transition on $30/month homebrew when official routes cost $300+. I've seen people get their bloodwork done at private labs for $80 instead of $500 through endo. Knowledge is power. Sharing is resistance.
Resources above. Read the wiki. Join the Discords. Get bloodwork. Start low. Titrate slow. Don't die of stupidity. But also — don't die waiting for permission from people who hate us.
Solidarity forever. Fuck gatekeepers. Fuck the state. Brew your own hormones. Take your life back.
NO GODS NO MASTERS NO FUCKING COMPROMISE
LET'S GET ONE THING STRAIGHT:
Alright, I'm about to go off because I am DONE with this bullshit. I'm sick and tired of scrolling through my feed and seeing these absolute clowns co-opting punk culture without understanding a single goddamn thing about what it actually means. Like, you really think you can just throw on a studded leather jacket you bought at Hot Topic, stick some random safety pins through it without even knowing the historical significance, slap on a "Punk's Not Dead" patch you got off Amazon, and call yourself punk while simultaneously supporting fascist politicians and their regressive policies? Are you kidding me right now?
Newsflash: That's not how ANY of this works. That's literally the opposite of punk. You're the exact type of person we've been fighting against since the 70s. You're the conformist trying to wear the uniform of rebellion while missing the entire point.
Being punk has NEVER been about fashion. Never. Not once in the entire history of this movement. It's not about having the "right" haircut or the "coolest" patches or whatever aesthetic you think makes you edgy on TikTok. It's about actual, real, tangible RESISTANCE. It's about standing up against oppression, against authoritarianism, against the systems and structures that crush ordinary people under their boots while the rich get richer and marginalized communities get left to die.
ON SKINS AND SOLIDARITY:
Okay, let me be CRYSTAL FUCKING CLEAR about skinhead culture because I'm tired of explaining this to people who get all their information from watching American History X and thinking they understand the entire complex history of a working-class movement. REAL skinhead culture - not the racist trash that hijacked the name and aesthetic in the 80s - has absolutely nothing to do with white supremacy or nazi ideology.
The original skinhead movement emerged in late 1960s Britain from working-class solidarity. It was literally born from white and Black working-class kids coming together, sharing music, sharing culture, and standing in solidarity against the upper classes trying to keep them down. It was about reggae, ska, rocksteady - music created by Black artists that white working-class kids fell in love with. It was about unity across racial lines based on class consciousness.
Then the fucking nazis came. In the late 70s and early 80s, organized white supremacist groups started deliberately targeting and recruiting from skinhead culture. They saw working-class white youth who felt economically disenfranchised and fed them racist propaganda, blaming immigrants and people of color for problems actually caused by capitalism and the ruling class.
But here's what people don't talk about enough: SHARP skins (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice) and traditional skins NEVER LEFT. We're still here. We never abandoned our roots or our values. We still stand for working-class unity across all racial and ethnic lines. We still love the music. We still rep the original spirit of the movement. And we still fight fascism wherever it tries to rear its ugly head in our spaces.
PUNK MEANS ANTI-FASCIST:
This isn't up for debate. This isn't a "difference of political opinion" that we can just agree to disagree on. Fascism is fundamentally, inherently, completely antithetical to everything punk has ever stood for.
Punk is about DIY ethics and community mutual aid. Punk is about questioning authority and power structures. Punk is about supporting the marginalized and oppressed. Punk is about standing against racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia. Punk is about fighting corporate control and capitalist exploitation. Punk is about creating spaces for people who don't fit the mainstream mold.
Fascism represents the EXACT OPPOSITE of all of that. So explain to me - and I'm genuinely asking - how the FUCK can someone claim to be punk while supporting fascist ideology or fascist politicians? It's a complete contradiction.
WHY THIS MATTERS NOW:
We're living in legitimately dangerous times right now. Fascism is on the rise globally. White supremacists are literally marching in the streets. We've got politicians using the exact same rhetoric as 1930s fascists - scapegoating immigrants, demonizing minorities, promoting ultranationalism, attacking the free press, calling for violence against political opponents.
White supremacists and neo-nazis are actively trying to recruit from youth subcultures, including punk and hardcore scenes. We have to be vigilant. We have to call this garbage out when we see it. We have to make it explicitly clear that nazis, fascists, racists, and bigots are NOT WELCOME in our spaces.
TO THE POSERS:
If you're trying to be punk while supporting Trump or any other authoritarian wannabe dictator, you're doing it wrong. Full stop. Go listen to the lyrics. Read about the history. Talk to people who've been in this scene for decades. Learn what this actually means before you claim it as your identity.
And if you STILL don't get it? Then this scene isn't for you. We don't want you here. We'll keep our spaces safe from your hate.
TO MY FELLOW PUNKS AND SKINS:
Keep fighting. Keep making noise. Keep building community. Keep calling out the BS when you see it. This scene survived Reagan, Thatcher, and every other authoritarian who tried to crush it. We'll survive this too.
Stay loud. Stay angry about injustice. Stay compassionate. And never, EVER let the fascists think they're welcome here.
NO NAZIS. NO FASCISTS. NO RACISTS. NO SEXISTS. NO HOMOPHOBES. NO TRANSPHOBES. NO BOOTLICKERS. NO COMPROMISE.
Solidarity forever, you beautiful chaotic antifascist bastards. See you in the pit.
Last night's basement show reminded me why this scene matters. No corporate sponsors, no overpriced tickets, just kids making noise and building real community. Three local bands, everyone moshing together, pure energy and solidarity.
This is what DIY culture is about - creating our own spaces, supporting each other, keeping it real and accessible to everyone.
